Perun 2 Specifications & Features
The Perun 2 is a hybrid of a conventional flashlight and a headlamp; it comes with an Olight branded head strap that can easily slide the Perun 2.
The size of the Perun 2 is perfect for carrying in hand to get your everyday needs done, or you can clip it anywhere using its pre-installed S-clip.
The Perun 2 weighs only 161g (5.6 oz) and is 4.75 inches long. From my experience, this size is the optimum for an EDC light or a headlamp.
It would have been significantly challenging to grip onto in everyday tasks if it were shorter. If it were longer, it would have been uncomfortable as a headlight.
In that case, Olight is a genius in designing the Perun 2. But it is powered by a single 21700 rechargeable battery, which makes the light notably heavier.
That makes the Perun 2 uncomfortable to wear for extended periods or while running, jogging, or exercising. You certainly don’t want 161 grams plus a tight head strap bouncing up and down on your forehead.

- A sensor in the angled head
- Olight signature magnetic charging cable
- Convertible headlamp (head strap included)
- Clippable to surfaces/hands-free (removable clip included)
- The magnetic base enables sticking the flashlight to anything ferrous
In Perun 2, Olight has provided you with a plethora of carrying options. Lanyard installation is provided as an optional carrying method, and you will receive a lanyard installation tool. Install or uninstall it as you see fit.
You wanna know another unique feature? The magnetic base. You can’t imagine how useful this is until you get into such a situation. Perun 2 is perfect for keeping in your car as an emergency light. If you get a breakdown, you can stick the Perun 2 into your car’s hood or anywhere else of your choice.
The Perun 2 is equipped with a Cree XHP50.2 emitter and a cool white LED which is the most suitable for a headlight and to have a clear vision. The body is built with high-quality aluminum alloy, but as you know, it is mainly a headlight; it doesn’t offer you any self-defense mechanisms such as a steel bezel or strobe.
Build Quality and Durability
According to our testing and findings, the overall build quality is solid and durable enough for tactical activities. The Clover Gradient color theme on the Perun 2 is quite unique and stands out among competitive products.
The Olight Perun 2 is built with “aluminum alloy” and has an impact resistance of 1.5 meters. The waterproof and dustproof rating is up to IPX8 standards, which means it is waterproof up to 1.5 meters under freshwater for up to 30 minutes. Now you know how durable this little beast is.
This is useful for running errands or doing housework. The magnetic base makes it attachable to a shovel, spade, or any metal object. Isn’t the Perun 2 a must-have?
Operational Functions (User Interface)
The Olight Perum 2 has a switch on the head of the flashlight, which is handy for a hybrid light. You can access all five modes and the timer through one switch (Moonlight, Low, Medium, High, Turbo).
It also includes mode memory feature which’ll return you to the mode you last used before turning off the flashlight.
The Olight branded over-the-head headband comes with a silicon bracket attached to slide-in the Perun 2. You can adjust it, and it is comfortable enough to work for a few hours outdoors with the Perun attached to it.
However, I found running with the Perun attached to the headband quite uncomfortable.
How to Use the E-Switch to Access These Modes?
From Off:
- Turn On/Off: Single click
- Moonlight mode: Press and hold the switch for more than 1 second
- Electronic lockout mode: Press and hold the switch for 2 seconds
- Direct access to turbo mode On/Off: Double-click the switch
- SOS: Quickly triple-click the switch
From On:
- Cycle through modes: Press and hold the switch
- Timer configuration: Double click and hold the switch till blink (one blink = 3 mins timer, two blinks = 9 mins timer). The timer is accessible in any mode.
- Low Battery Indication: When the battery drops below 10%, your Olight Perun 2 will vibrate once every 30 seconds. Recharge the battery immediately. This is a unique feature of this light. (this feature is not applicable when it’s running on moonlight mode)
Proximity Sensor Function
The Olight Perun 2 headlamp has an infrared distance (proximity) sensor built in.
When in HIGH, TURBO, or SOS mode, the sensor detects any obstruction nearby (approximately 50mm) and switches to MID brightness.
When the obstruction is eliminated, it will revert to its previous mode.
Undoubtedly, the best benefit of this feature is its ability to turn off the light if an obstruction is present for more than one minute.
But the sensing feature will not work in moonlight, low, or mid modes. This feature is truly innovative.
There’s certainly a downside to that feature; when you want the light to be placed closer to an object, the Perun 2 will think it’s an obstruction that may reduce the brightness and turn off if it stays in the same position.
Some Perun 2 users cover the sensor with a little tape piece. But it’s totally your choice to decide what you’re going to do.
Performance
The Olight Perun 2 has five different brightness settings to accommodate your needs for light. For a few reasons, this feature is fantastic.
Even though you have the option of using 2500 lumen output, you can choose the lowest settings to see just enough without drawing unwanted attention to yourself and minimizing battery drain.
However, keep in mind that more brightness means less runtime.
For a hybrid flashlight, the lumen power is relatively higher; even though the maximum of 2500 lumens only lasts for 2 minutes, Olight has given you the luxury of enjoying that high brightness.
But it is a long-lasting headlight; you can run it for 12 days straight from one full charge in the moonlight mode for 5 lumens. The SOS mode is accessible in a shortcut. Three clicks from off or on.
Specification | Moonlight | Low | Mid | High | Turbo |
Lumens | 5 | 30 | 120 | 500/↓270 | 2500/↓800/↓500 |
Runtime | 12 days | 66hr | 18hr | 240m/30m | 2m/130m/45m |
Beam distance | – | 59ft (18m) | 118ft (38m) | 242ft (74m) | 544ft (166m) |
Charging Process and Battery Life
The Perun 2 comes with an Olight-branded proprietary 4000mAh 21700 battery. On the tail of Perun 2 is the magnetic charging port, which is unique to Olight. It includes a magnetic MCC3 charging cable with a 2 amp maximum capacity.
The light can be used in all modes while charging, but it will charge at a slower rate. You should only use 5 lumens “MOONLIGHT” or 30 lumens “LOW mode.” while the light is charging. However, it’s best not to turn on the light while charging. Moonlight mode will provide a 12-day battery life.
- Charging in progress is indicated by a “RED” LED indicator on the MCC3 Charger’s tail.
- Fully charged is indicated by a “GREEN” LED indicator on the MCC3 charger’s tail.

Customer Reviews of the Perun 2
We went through the Olight Perun 2 customer reviews and found that the majority of them were pleased with this light. The light’s weight as a headlamp, however, was a deal breaker.
Customers complain that the Perun 2 is too heavy and the head strap is too uncomfortable to wear for extended periods. Aside from that, the Perun 2 is a must-have.
