Key Features of the Baton 3 Pro Max

Overall Build Quality

This is Olight’s first-ever magnesium alloy flashlight to impress you at the start itself.

The Baton 3 Pro was 3.99 inches long with a head and body diameter of 0.91 inches.

So, as with all “pro” versions of any product, the Baton 3 Pro Max is a bit bigger to accommodate the new-and-improved features compared to the previous models.

These are the dimensions of the Baton 3 pro max,

  • 4.49 inches (114mm) in length
  • 1.02 inches (26 mm) of head and body diameter
  • Black / OD Green: 5.22 oz (148 g) (weight including battery); Desert Tan: 4.73 oz (134 g) (weight including battery)
A human holding Baton 3 Pro Max

Even at these dimensions, the flashlight is perfectly compact.

It also has a really nice knurling pattern unique only to Olight, ensuring an amazing grip. One reason is that the flashlight is made from aerospace grade, highest-quality aluminum.

The flashlight comes in 3 distinctive colors; black, desert tan (brownish), and OD green. It’s nice to see a company as big as Olight still care about these little things; it shows they still care about customer preferences.

Olight further emphasizes the upgraded two-way clip compared to the Baton 3 Pro. Even if you completely forgot the Olight Baton 3 Pro, this t clip is still pretty interesting.

That’s not all — there’s a VERY special part; the L-stand

The L-stand of the Baton 3 pro is MAGNETIC stainless steel backed with strong adhesive. It’s amazing that this part is compatible with other Olight products with similarly sized magnetic tail caps.

So, it’s safe to say the design quality of the flashlight is *chef’s kiss.

Brightness Range and Lighting Modes

Featuring six operational levels, you get complete control over your lighting needs.

At its highest output level 1 (high mode), the flashlight emits an impressive 2500 lumens, making it one of the brightest compact flashlights on the market.

This brightness level is perfect for illuminating large areas, such as campsites or hiking trails, and can also be used as a signaling device in emergencies.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, the lowest setting, Level 5, has an output of just 1 lumen.

This brightness level is ideal when you need to conserve battery life or maintain a low profile, such as when reading a map.

A human checking brightness of Olight Baton 3 Pro Max

Between the highest and lowest settings, the Baton 3 Pro Max offers three additional output levels of brightness: 800 lumens, 120 lumens, and 15 lumens.

These levels provide a range of options for different lighting needs, from a bright beam for long-range visibility to a low output for up-close tasks.

The flashlight also features a strobe mode, which emits a high-intensity flashing light that can be used to disorient an attacker or signal for help.

You can buy it in 4 color temperatures.

Warm white (3000K-4000K) is more towards the yellowish-golden side of the spectrum, whereas the neural white (4000K-5200K) is closer to daylight with a clear white light.

Cool white (5700K-6700K) has a slight bluish tinge that is often used for outdoor activities and workplaces where focus and concentration is important.

I bought the neutral white as I always do. You’ll know more when you get to the part where I tell you about my experience with the flashlight.

Beam Range

The Olight Baton 3 pro max is not so different from the other top-end Olight flashlights in terms of the beam throw — it’s pretty impressive.

The highest turbo mode throws the beam to a staggering 145m. This is while illuminating a vast area across the central beam pattern.

That’s why Olight flashlights truly illuminate the surrounding area.

The high mode reaches to about 89m, and that’s still impressive given the lumen gap. The medium mode’s beam distance drops to 35m. Once again, the beam throw gap is not bad at all.

However, it’s borderline impossible to measure the beam throw of the lowest mode. All I can say is that the light is bright enough to see in the dark.

User Interface

As I mentioned, there are 6 levels, and you can switch between them with one switch. This side switch is enlarged and concave, reducing the chances of accidental activation.

Here’s how the interface works:

  • When it is OFF:

Press and hold for 1-2 seconds for the 1-lumen mode.

Press and hold for more than 2 seconds for the lockout activation. Single click to turn it on and double click for the turbo mode. Press the button thrice for the strobe mode.

(Electronic lockout mode is enabled by holding the button down for 2+ seconds while the light is off.)

  • When it is ON:

Press and hold to change modes that cycle from bottom to top in intensity.

Double click enables Turbo mode. You can double-press and hold the switch to activate the timer.

Similar to the previous instance, press the button 3 times for the strobe mode.

There is the mode memory too. If you turn the light back on within 1 minute of turning it off in Turbo or High, it will return to High.

After 1 minute of being off, Turbo and High modes revert down to Medium mode. Strobe mode cannot be memorized.

A human showing side switch of Olight Baton 3 Pro Max

The Pro Max has a low voltage warning/ battery indicator too. The LED button displays the battery level.

Olight ensures that the battery is not wasted; that’s why you can give the light a little shake to wake the battery indicator up and see the battery’s status.

The timer mode is very handy, as in other newer Olight models.

With the light turned ON and in the desired mode, double-click the switch AND hold until you see a blink.

One blink means you have activated a 3-minute time. Two blinks are for 9 minutes.

To switch between the 3-minute and 9-minute timers do another double click AND hold; this is AFTER you have activated the timer.

Battery, Battery Life, And Charging

You need a battery that can provide long-lasting power and be easy to recharge and maintain.

That’s why this light comes with a powerful 21700 5000mAh battery, which provides impressive performance and reliability.

MCC3 proprietary charging method lets Olight position itself as an innovative company.

Not only that, but it also ensures a steady and SAFE current flow for the battery, keeping it safe.

The charging method is also incredibly efficient, and that’s why the light will be fully charged in under 3.5 hours.

Olight Baton 3 Pro Max on charge

Don’t worry; you get the charger for free.

So, how long of the runtime can you expect? That all depends on which level you’re using.

At the highest setting, the Baton 3 Pro Max can run for 1 minute with 2500 lumens, perfect for quick bursts of intense light. At level 2, which emits a still-impressive 1200 lumens, the flashlight can run for 4.05 hours.

If you need a lower level of brightness, level 3 will provide 23 hours of continuous use, while level 4 will provide an incredible 180 hours. And if you really want to conserve battery life, level 5’s 1-lumen mode can run for a staggering 60 days on a single charge.

Proximity Sensor

Regarding high-quality flashlights, the Baton 3 Pro Max is in a class of its own; the all-new updated proximity sensor is yet another impressive feature.

The proximity sensor on this list is a powerful tool that can help you stay aware of your surroundings, even in the darkest environments.

When an obstacle covers the light beam, the sensor detects the object and adjusts the light’s intensity accordingly.

If you accidentally shine the light too close to your eyes or another sensitive area, the flashlight will automatically dim to prevent damage.

But that’s not all. The sensor is also designed to help protect the flashlight itself. When an object is detected close to the lens, the sensor activates a heat dissipation system that helps keep the flashlight cool and safe.

This ensures that the flashlight remains in top working condition, no matter how often you use it.

Of course, you have the option to turn off the proximity sensor if you choose. However, I recommend leaving it on to ensure maximum safety and protection.

Resistance Against Water and Impact

With its rugged, durable construction and advanced features, this flashlight is designed to take on whatever challenges you may face, whether out in the wilderness or just dealing with everyday emergencies.

But is that all? No. This flashlight boats excellent resistance against water and impact.

As mentioned earlier, the Pro Max is made from a Magnesium alloy that has been carefully engineered to provide maximum strength and durability.

With an IPX8 rating, it’s fully waterproof and can be used safely in even the most challenging wet environments.

Olight Baton 3 Pro Max inside the water

The rating basically means that the flashlight is safe under 1m of the water pressure depth.

On the flip side, this flashlight comes with 1.5m impact resistance. That’s why you simply won’t have to worry about the durability of the flashlight, even if you’re working in the toughest environments.

With all the features covered, let’s look at the customer reviews.

Customer Reviews: Olight Baton 3 Pro Max

Let’s take a look at what the customers are saying.

Olight Baton 3 Pro Max Customer Review 2

As I will explain below, neutral or warm white is what you go for, and Earnest gets it.

Olight Baton 3 Pro Max Customer Review 3

I always come across people like Diplo who LOVE the flashlight for its features, and this is one of those moments.

My Experience With the Olight Baton 3 Pro Max

Although I always show what other customers think, I prefer testing flashlights on my own. That gives me the reassurance that I can give to our readers.

So, what happened with the Olight Baton 3 Pro Max?

Let me tell you feature by feature.

Starting with the build quality, this light feels solid and well-made. The knurling pattern on the body provides a comfortable and secure grip — you can feel it on your palm, and it’s amazing.

Even with that superior materialistic properties, the flashlight doesn’t feel heavy. You can also easily access the buttons, and that’s how you confirm an ergonomic design.

Moving on to the brightness range and lighting levels, the Pro Max flashlight produces 2,500 lumens at max. I checked this and all the other levels against a landmark in my neighborhood, which impressed me.

If you don’t remember, I bought the neutral white color temperature.

The beam is very dispersed, illuminating wider areas in the beam throw. I went with the neural white color temperature, revealing colors better. So, it’s safe to say that the flashlight is perfectly suitable for all situations.

If you want this flashlight for every tactical work, I recommend going with neutral white or warm white, as those reveal colors better. Cool white is more bluish.

The user interface didn’t disappoint; the switch sizes are fine, and it’s easy to press and cycle between modes.

My recommendation is to switch between modes when the flashlight is turned on — but this is strictly a personal recommendation; you can try out what you prefer.

When you’re following buttons, pay attention to the sensation of clicks. Olight switches have such a unique sensation, and it’s better to get used to them before you use them regularly.

When the charge cycle is nearing completion, the indicator turns green; that’s pretty amazing.

Olight Baton 3 Pro Max

The two-way pocket clip was also a standout feature for me. Being able to attach the flashlight either up or down gave me added flexibility while using it. You never have to check whether it fits because it does wherever you put the flashlight.

The proximity sensor was another impressive feature. I checked it several times during the day and night at different speeds; you know, the speed at which I bring the flashlight close to an obstacle — the response time is impressive enough.

Lastly, the resistance against water and impact was a huge plus. I tested the IPX8 rating by submerging the flashlight in water for about half an hour. I wanted so badly to drop it from about 1-1.5m in height, but this was my only unit, and I decided to take Olight’s word for that.

This flashlight is a game changer.

YES. Even if you own the Baton 3 Pro, the gap between the Pro and Pro Max is so impressive that it’s worth buying. So, if you’re just looking to buy a reliable flashlight, then there’s absolutely no question about its worth.

So, to sum it up, my experience with the flashlight exceeded my expectations. I’m a very hard-to-please with flashlights, so if this impresses me, it will surely blow your mind.

But the flashlight uses low CRI LEDs, and it’s apparent because the object colors aren’t the same as they would look under sunlight. I don’t need to tell you about the proprietor recharging; it’s a teeny bit annoying, but that’s for Olight’s brand quality.

Now, let’s look at the flashlight’s price, warranty, and refund policy.

Price, Warranty, And Refund Policy of Baton 3 Pro Max

Baton 3 Pro Max is the BEST version of the BEST Olight model series, and you can buy it for just $89.99.

I can’t guarantee that the price will remain the same for a long time. I’ll tell you where to buy it next.
