These thin contact strips(mostly made of copper or brass) are very important to generate light and electrify the entire system. The contact strip is also known as a thin spring. 

The contact works in such a way that when you set your flashlight in the off position, the contacts will immediately separate and stop producing bright light.

In a flashlight, switches play a key role. There are three kinds of switches on a typical flashlight-

  • Power switch 
  • Mode switch
  • Focus switch. 

The power switch is simple and available in every flashlight. It does a very simple job, just turn on and turn off the flashlight. 

The mode switch is something that you’ll see in a mid-range flashlight. This switch helps you change brightness modes like low, medium, high, and strobe.
