With a MAX performance of 3100 lumens, this is a BRIGHT little flashlight for its size. At a length of 5.6 inches, this flashlight is the size of a mobile phone and can easily fit in your pocket.
It’s great when you are able to carry a flashlight in your pocket. The trouble with other bulky lights in the market is that carrying them around can be a real hassle.
It has dual tactical tail switches, which are used to adjust the power and output of light EASILY.
The Fenix TK16 V2.0 has five settings to choose from. The max setting Turbo allows you to light up a range of 1247 ft. The high setting allows your light to reach a distance of 722 ft. The Fenix TK16 V2.0 also has an Eco mode which can work for up to 43 hours on a single charge and illuminate a range of up to 131 ft.
The Fenix TK16 V2.0 is made with high-grade aluminum, which is both LIGHT and STRONG! It has a stainless steel strike bezel with tungsten steel breaking tips.
The tail switch is easy to locate. In fact, there are two switches, one that turns the flashlight on and off, while the other allows you to switch between modes (five settings.)
The Fenix TK16 V2.0 also has a strobe feature, which is excellent for if you ever hit a RAVE (DO the STROBE dance!)
When it comes to the battery, while the original Fenix TK16 used a 18650 lithium-ion battery, the Fenix TK 16 V2.0 uses a 21700 lithium-ion, RECHARGEABLE battery. The flashlight actually comes with a Fenix ARB L21 5000U lithium-ion battery.
All in all, this looks to be a promising little flashlight packed with some exciting features.

Main Features of the Fenix TK16 V2.0
This little flashlight is jam-packed with some EXCELLENT features.
User-Interface
Right off the bat, using this flashlight could not be more SIMPLE. The Fenix TK16 V2.0 has two switches, a functional switch, and a tactical switch.
While the functional switch allows you to change the settings of the beam profile, the tactical switch will enable you to quickly turn ON the flashlight in tactical situations.
(This flashlight is GREAT for tactical use.) – Both switches are tail switches. This is a dual tail switch flashlight!
The mode that you choose will determine how many hours of illumination a single charge will provide.
This great flashlight can be EASILY turned on in case of EMERGENCY.
The two dual tail switches control the operation of both the tactical strobe mode and other brightness levels (modes.)
Some tactical flashlights in the market have complicated means of turning them ON, requiring you to hold a dial down and rotate the dial 90 degrees and whatnot. Not with the Fenix TK16 V2.
The user interface allows for single-handed operation, and the dual tail switch allows for instant activation.
This is one of the more USER-FRIENDLY lights I’ve used.
Build Quality
Made with high-grade aluminum, this little flashlight is actually VERY STRONG! You may ask what I mean by high grade – AIRCRAFT GRADE!
This flashlight uses the same type of aluminum that is used to make AIRCRAFTS! Hence the quality of this flashlight is EXCELLENT!
Build quality determines the durability of a product. Just knowing that it is made from high-grade aluminum, as that used to make aircrafts, simply tells us that this little flashlight is VERY DURABLE.
The Fenix TK16 V2 comes with a stainless steel strike bezel with tungsten breaking tips, making this a great tactical flashlight that is both HANDY and HARDY!
Unless a flashlight is waterproof, it will stop working at a touch of rain. Fortunately for you, the Fenix TK16 V2 is rated IP68 waterproof.
Forget a touch of rain; this bad body can be submerged in up to 2 meters of water for up to 30 mins.
This feature makes this a very powerful flashlight, capable of even working underwater.
Brightness Levels
Though higher brightness modes will drain the battery faster, just having the option to choose from five brightness levels makes this flashlight AMAZING for a small light!
You can choose between turbo, high, med, low, or eco, based on the level of light you may require.
Here are the lumen outputs for each mode.
- Turbo (boost mode): 3100 lumens (2 hr 40 min total run time)
- High: 1000 lumens (2 hrs 50 min)
- Mid: 350 lumens (8 hrs 20 min)
- Low: 150 lumens (19 hrs 10 min)
- Eco: 30 lumens (43 hours 20 min)
- Strobe: 3100 lumens
That 3100-lumen strobe mode will come in super handy if you ever need it.
The flashlight is designed to remember the last used setting (memory mode.) This means if you turn the flashlight off, when you turn it back on, it will work on the previously used output.
At a lower brightness level, the charge of the battery will allow you to illuminate the streets for hours at a time (Eco mode lasting 43.33 hours).
Beam Distance Based on Mode
The beam distance of this flashlight varies based on the mode opted.
Here is a breakdown of the varying beam distances based on the opted mode.
- Eco: 40 meters (131 feet)
- Low: 80 meters (262 feet)
- Medium: 125 meters (410 feet)
- High: 220 meters (722 feet)
- Turbo: 380 meters (1247 feet)
Worth noting, the MAXIMUM beam distance as in Turbo mode is 380 meters which is quite a lot!
Advanced Pulse Frequency Transmission
The advanced pulse frequency transmission system allows for better anti-interference performance.
This means a more STEADY light and more CONSISTENT brightness.
You won’t find this flashlight flickering in the dark like one of those older flashlights that you have to hit on the back to make it work. It has a beam distance of 0.24 MILES!
The pulse frequency transmission system makes this flashlight even better, giving it a competitive EDGE over other flashlights in the market.
Battery and Runtime
The Fenix TK16 V2 is powered by a single 21700 battery. This is a GREAT battery for a flashlight.
This flashlight uses a Fenix ARB L21 5000U lithium-ion battery.
The 21700 battery is included with your purchase and is USB Type-C RECHARGEABLE. However, you will need to remove the battery from the flashlight in order to charge it.
The battery is also NOT in-built, so you can use spare batteries ***which can be very useful for long camping trips.
Here are the runtimes on each mode.
Mode | Lumen Output | Runtime |
Turbo (Varies) | 3100 downgrades to 1000 | 2 Hours and 40 Minutes |
High (Varies) | 1000 downgrades to 800 | 2 Hours and 50 Minutes |
Mid | 350 | 8 Hours and 20 Minutes |
Low | 15 | 19 Hours and 10 Minutes |
Eco | 30 | 43 Hours and 20 Minutes |
*Turbo and High sit at the peak output for minutes before going down, that is to maintain temperature and increase runtime.
All tactical flashlights do not come with a RECHARGEABLE battery, which is why this flashlight stands out!
Things You Need to Know About the Fenix TK16 V2 Flashlight
This flashlight has an ultra clear glass lens and an anti reflective coating. These additional features all provide this flashlight with a competitive edge over other flashlights in the market.
The turbo mode allows for the highest brightness of illumination while the eco output mode is the lowest.
This tactical flashlight allows you to momentarily turn on the light with a touch of a button (great for tactical use.)
The MAXIMUM output of this light produces sufficient brightness to light up the whole area before you.
You won’t have to constantly turn dials to operate this flashlight; the user interface is simple.
The strobe feature is a great addition allowing for better self defense (for instance, against wildlife.)
The low modes do not drain the charge of the light too fast.
And what’s great is that this light is MILITARY-GRADE. I wouldn’t be surprised if you stumbled upon a police officer using this same exact model. (First responders use models like these.)
The Fenix TK16 V2 uses an ARB-L21-5000U lithium-ion battery.
However, you do have to note that a regular Fenix Rechargeable 21700 Li-ion 5000 mAh battery is not compatible with Fenix TK16 V2 without a separate battery charger.

My Experience With the Fenix TK16 V2
When I got my hands on this flashlight, I was immediately impressed with how lightweight it was. It was featherweight without the battery and adding the battery didn’t make it all that heavier.
The grip on this flashlight is PERFECT; it comfortably sits and rests on your hand and is unlikely to roll off or slip off in the rain.
Speaking of rain, the waterproof feature of this flashlight was really impressive. I tried submerging this flashlight in a bucket of water, and it worked PERFECTLY fine underwater. (Talk about an underwater light.)
Though the battery had to be removed from the flashlight to charge, the battery went from zero to full charge in less than 6 hours.
The light spectrum at 3100 lumens produces an excellent degree of brightness which can be easily regulated using the functional tail switch.
The tactical switch was easy to find and easy to use. It allowed for fast turning on and off of this flashlight which can easily be used on ONE hand. (I didn’t need both hands to operate this flashlight.)
All in all, I was very happy with the features and output of this flashlight.

Pros and Cons of the Fenix TK16 V2
The features of the Fenix TK16 V2 are most undoubtedly impressive. But what are the cons of this flashlight? Do the pros outweigh the cons?
Pros
Straight off the bat, the ultra clear glass lens that this flashlight comes with is SUPER.
Instant Activation allows you to turn this flashlight on fast (for instance, if a racoon invades your camping site.)
This tactical light uses a USB cable to charge the battery. This means you won’t have to keep buying new batteries to charge your flashlight. This RECHARGEABLE feature is a key selling point of this flashlight.
The light is sensitive and can measure small temperature drops. It has an advanced pulse-frequency transmission system for better anti-interference performance. This just means a better beam profile and consistent and reliable lighting.
The beam pattern is beautiful, and the strobe feature is very useful. The strobe function makes this flashlight a HANDY tool to have at your disposal. (For cases when self defense against wildlife or others becomes necessary.)
On a low setting, you can use this flashlight for extended periods of time.
The Fenix TK16 V2 offers a great balance of POWER and VERSATILITY. This is a high performance flashlight with an EXCELLENT beam range on turbo and high mode.
The body is made of AIRCRAFT-GRADE aluminum, making this a DURABLE and TRUSTWORTHY product.
Rated IP68 water-rating, the WATERPROOF feature means you won’t have to worry about getting it wet. (This thing will work for 30 minutes even if submerged in 2 meters of water.)
The anti-reflective coating gives this flashlight a sleek design; the grip is firm (it won’t slip off your hand that easily.)
Cons
Most Fenix flashlights have a battery life indicator so that you know when to charge the flashlight, the TK16 V2.0 unfortunately does not have one, which is a bummer.
While on low, the light projected appears to have a green tint.
Other Fenix brand’s flashlight reviews:
Conclusion
The Fenix TK16 V2 is a HANDY little flashlight that delivers some EXCELLENT features! Though there are a few improvements they can make to version 2 of this flashlight, all in all, the features are well worth the money you pay for it.

I bought one recently for work (security) and as a light guy since I had my original Maglite in about 1985, I can attest that this is one of the best I have ever had; there is simply no comparison. I don’t really have any criticisms but do agree that a power indicator would be very nice and I would also be pleased if Fenix added a traffic wand to the package, with different color choices (I like blue or green) and a holster with snaps rather than Velcro.
As a side note, I got this light when another earlier Fenix suddenly died on me. When I contacted the company for help, they advised that the one I had was discontinued and that no spare parts were available. The lady gave me a 30% off coupon for a replacement, as well as advice on which models would be the best fit for my specific needs. I ended up choosing this one, and couldn’t be happier.
